Saeed Kamjoo

Born in 1965 in Tehran, Iran, Saeed Kamjoo started learning kamança (bowed spike-fiddle) at the age of seventeen under the guidance of Adeshir Kâmkâr. He furthered his studies in the instrumental and vocal repertoires of Classical Persian music with such renowned masters as Ali Abrak Shekârchi and Ustad Ali Asghar Bahâri. He is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts from Tehran University and has been studying Persian musical manuscripts and ancient rhythmic modes for several years.

Saeed moved to Montréal, Canada in 1997 and has since been collaborated with various ensembles in Canada, the United Staes and Europe. He has received grants from Canada's Council for the Arts and Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. He has also performed as a guest artist with Dastan Ensemble, one of the most renowned Persian musical groups.  He is a co-founder of Namâd Ensemble.
